The XYZ Internet Marketing suite makes it easy to manage all of your line items with a single spreadsheet upload. This video will show you how it’s done.
In our last video, we went over how to add a category and how to add individual line items. Using the information in our product list, which you can get to from the “List” link in the left navigation, let’s go over the process of adding and updating products from a single spreadsheet.
First, click on the “Fields” link. This is where you can enable the fields you wish to associate with your products, such as size, color, brand, and whatever fields you need to best present your products.
You can quickly adjust where the fields appear using the checkboxes. Since we’ll be exporting our product list to populate it, we need to make sure the export products option is checked off. This means the fields we check will appear on the spreadsheet. When done adding fields, click on the “Update Products Fields” button.
Now, when you’re taken back to the main page, take note of the Category ID. You’ll need this specific number just before you export your spreadsheet. To do that, click on the Export link under the Products section.
This is where we’ll generate a product spreadsheet that will function as a template for mass product updates and additions. Make sure you enter the correct Category ID into the field and then click “Generate New File”.
You should get a notification that a spreadsheet was exported to your computer.
Open the spreadsheet. In the fields, you’ll see the product names and SKUs you’ve entered into the suite, along with the associated fields. This spreadsheet will serve as your template for product uploads and modifications.
Populate the spreadsheet with all of your product details. You can copy-paste from your supplier list. You can use the spreadsheet to upload images by imputing file names from the FTP. You can even modify the layout from your spreadsheet by specifying display options. Any fields that are not applicable to your products can be left blank. Remember, you can also edit these same details directly in the suite as long as the product name and SKU fields are populated.
Once you’ve entered all the data you wish to import, save the spreadsheet. Go back to the suite and click on the “Import” link from the product navigation. Locate the spreadsheet you’ve just saved and upload it to the suite.
Now we can see a summary of all products that were updated and added with this spreadsheet import.
If you visit the “Products List”, you should now see the products incorporated into the suite. With just a few clicks, the import process is almost instantaneous. Remember, you can continue to modify and update your line items using the layout, permissions, and other features right here in the suite. It’s that simple.
