Content Writer

My professional writing career started with an opportunity to bring my love of storytelling and creative writing to the new field of internet marketing and search engine optimization. At a time when search engines were still relatively new and businesses were just coming around to the idea of needing websites, I eagerly joined a small digital marketing agency. As I helped to take company websites from virtual business cards to storefronts and hubs for customers seeking solutions, I developed new skills quickly and discovered a true appreciation for fostering connections; my work could and was creating paths between people and what they needed.

Media Editor

My arts background has always been an asset to content production. A lifelong love of visual art and esthetic provides a natural advantage in website and digital media design. As web technology accelerated and diversified, I met needs as they arose by branching out into video, audio, and more advanced media editing. Starting with a concept, building it out through content, and adding rich media that polished it into an impactful product is inspiring and rewarding.

Project Manager

The organization and communication skills that were essential to content production transferred directly to managing projects and supporting team members. Project management gave me a new vantage and understanding all the moving parts and different specializations that take endeavors from start to finish. The collaborative and leadership skills I gained as a project manager are lasting assets.

Writing Department Lead

Working with up-and-coming content writers and marketers as a team lead was a true privilege. The role gave me new opportunities to apply empathy and creativity to coaching and a new purpose: to use what I had learned to foster confidence and shorten steps for those just getting started.

Lead Writer & Editor

Developing new systems for content production and publishing, and collaborating with contractors let me apply new ideas and further hone my communication and team management skills. The role gave me a chance to test my instincts and try varied approaches to bring out the best in my fellow creatives.

Creativity is constant decision making and evaluation, and content management is a natural extension of that. Working across the entire flow of multiple projects and seeking improvements provides ample inspiration and space to stay sharp, constantly experiment, and reconnect with principals and abilities that have become touchstones in what is now a long career.

Putting my skills to work for detailed process explanation and documentation is challenging and satisfying. Technical writing gives me a chance to explore expertise held by passionate and accomplished people. It’s also an opportunity to satisfy curiosity and close gaps in knowledge and confidence. I relish the opportunity to save time, alleviate friction, and further capabilities by storing and relaying information.
